European Level Reports

Rutland Citizens Advice Bureau works closely with Cittadinanzattiva and associated organisations such as Fondaca (ACF). Rutland Citizens Advice Bureau carries out research and produces reports as the UK partners in a range of projects which are largely sponsored by the European Commission.

The Active Citizenship Foundation was created in 2002. It is based in Rome, Italy.

The mission of ACF is to support the development of civic activism through social research, advanced training, cultural dialogue and the mobilization of resources.

The rationale for the Foundation activity is that in the face of growing attention to, and expectation concerning, civic activism the following difficulties remain

• Civic Activism continues to be underestimated, and consequently, there is no full recognition of its role in governance;
• This is due both to a deficit of scientific research, especially in Europe, and to misleading and underestimating views of the phenomenon;
• Citizens’ organisations need greater resources, knowledge and know-how to fulfil their new purposes.

The Foundation’s mission is to contribute in addressing these problems.

Aims
Promotes the building of European citizenship through:

• Networking and co-operation between national and local citizens’ organisations of the ‘ New Europe’ countries
• The promotion of projects and activities aimed at strengthening the citizens’ role in public policies.
